Nadie está hablando de esto. Ni siquiera El Nuevo Día. Acabo de encontrar una noticia donde dice que la compañía gasolinera francesa Total acaba de comprar todas las operaciones de ExxonMobil en Puerto Rico, Islas Vírgenes y Jamaica.

PARIS (MarketWatch) — French oil major Total SA said Tuesday it acquired ExxonMobil Corp.’s marketing assets of gas stations, depots and aviation fuel retailing operations in Puerto Rico, Jamaica and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In a statement, Total said the acquisition represents a marketing capacity of around 1 million metric tons a year through a network of approximatively 200 service stations. Total said the transaction is subject to approval by the relevant authorities and is in line with Total’s development strategy. No financial details were disclosed.
Viendo como están los precios de la gasolina hoy en día, el hacho de que se pierda uno de los competidores en este espacio no es una buena noticia para nadie en Puerto Rico.
Todo este tiempo que he estado pensando lo mal que nos iba en nuestra isla. Pero ahora ya me siento mejor porque el editorial de hoy del Washington Times dice que en Puerto Rico todo está bien:

Como parte de un programa de apoyo para familias de soldados que se encuentran en Irak o en Afganistan, se han creado sobre 200 fotos tipo “cutaway” de los padres y esposos de estas familias y se los hacen llegar para que coman, manejen y vivan con ellos en todo momento mientras sus padres están en medio de la guerra. “I prop him up in a chair, or sometimes put him on the couch and cover him up with a blanket,” said Kay Judkins of Caribou, whose husband, Jim, is a minesweeper mechanic in Afghanistan. “The cat will curl up on the blanket, and it looks kind of weird. I’ve tricked several people by that. They think he’s home again.”

Desde eliminarle los fondos para la reparación de los diques que mantenÃan el mar fuera antes del huracán y hasta cómo la administración está jugando a la polÃtica con la situación actual.
